The Pittsburgh Steelers fanbase’s patience is wearing thin as Aaron Rodgers’ indecision continues to loom over their offseason plans.
With substantial resources already committed toward his potential arrival, each passing day without clarity creates mounting pressure on the organization’s strategy moving forward.
Former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck provided some perspective Monday during his appearance with Colin Cowherd, suggesting a timeline that has quickly become a focal point for both the team and its supporters.
“I just mentioned the three phases for a veteran quarterback,” Hasselbeck said. “Phase 1 feels like a waste of your time. Like, it’s just lifting… There’s no football there. Anyway, Phase 2, again, you’re throwing to guys on air, not that important. Phase 3 I think is really important. So for the Pittsburgh Steelers, I believe that’s May 27th. May 27th is the start of Phase 3.”

According to Hasselbeck, while Rodgers has enough experience to adapt quickly, missing time beyond this late May marker could begin to impact team development.
The official countdown likely begins with Phase Three, when implementing the offensive system and building critical timing relationships truly matters.
The mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 10 represents another key milestone in the preparation calendar.
The absence of an announcement by May 27 doesn’t necessarily mean Rodgers has ruled out returning in 2025 or joining Pittsburgh.
However, if that date passes without resolution, Steelers supporters would have legitimate reason for concern.
Should Rodgers ultimately decide against playing in Pittsburgh, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph prepared to take the reins.
Nevertheless, questions might arise among fans regarding the decision to pass on drafting Shedeur Sanders as the franchise’s future signal caller.
