The Minnesota Timberwolves hurt the Golden State Warriors on Monday with their 117-110 win, giving them a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals series.
Not only did this place the Warriors in a very dangerous position, but it also poised the Timberwolves to end the series at home on Wednesday.
Speaking to ESPN after the win, Nickeil Alexander-Walker summed up why the T-Wolves were playing so hard and what the next game means to them.
“For us it’s just about defending home court, being better than that and growing,” Alexander-Walker said. “It’s far from over. This one is going to be harder than the first three. It’s just about having that focus to do what we need to do to get it done.”
Alexander-Walker was a huge part of the team’s win on Monday.
He posted 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in the game.
It was Julius Randle who led the way for the T-Wolves, but Anthony Edwards was also phenomenal with his 30 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
The Timberwolves didn’t have the best start to the game, but they got it together in the second half and looked like a focused and driven unit looking to walk away with a win.
They need to carry that energy into the next game.
If they do, this series could be over, and the Timberwolves would push on to the Western Conference Finals.
They love how they played on Monday, but now is not the time to ease up and change their approach.
They have to keep performing like they are losing, and the odds are against them.
