Another veteran NFL player has just become available.
Jadeveon Clowney‘s days with his hometown team were short-lived.
As reported by the league on X, the Carolina Panthers are releasing the three-time Pro Bowler after just one season.

The Panthers announced several moves ahead of the start of their rookie minicamp.
They also revealed that 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks will miss the entire 2025 season.
He’s recovering from a second ACL injury to his right knee, and he will be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
They also released veteran tight end Jordan Matthews.
The Panthers had reportedly tried to trade Clowney before the NFL Draft.
The Rock Hill, South Carolina native was slated to count $13.75 million against the salary cap, so parting ways with him was a somewhat easy business decision.
They had signed him to a two-year, $20 million contract.
The 32-year-old saw his sacks total drop from 9.5 to 5.5 in his first and only season with the organization.
The decision to move on from him also made sense from a football standpoint.
They had six EDGE rushers on their roster, and with Pat Jones II getting a two-year deal worth up to $20 million, there weren’t enough reps and room, and there were too many mouths to feed.
Clowney never lived up to the hype as a former No. 1 pick, but he’s still a serviceable veteran who could be a solid contributor as a backup.
Multiple teams will most likely reach out to him and, if the price makes sense, it shouldn’t be long before he lands on his feet.
