The Carolina Panthers won’t have one of their promising players on the field in 2025.
As reported by Sheena Quick, they placed RB Jonathon Brooks on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, which essentially rules him out for the season.
He’s recovering from a torn ACL injury.

Brooks sustained the injury in Week 14, and given the delicate timeframe of recovery, it’s not much of a surprise to see that he will have to watch the entire season from the sidelines.
The Panthers took him in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but injuries limited him to just three appearances and nine carries.
His ACL tear was the second injury of such he’s sustained on the very same knee in just 13 months.
Needless to say, this raises major questions about his durability and future in the league.
He was the first running back off the board in 2024 after dominating in his final campaign at Texas.
The former Longhorn impressed with 187 carries for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns, adding 25 receptions for 286 receiving yards and another touchdown.
Still, the Panthers are thinking about the future, and they look to give Bryce Young some other weapons ahead of his third season in the league.
They took Georgia RB Trevor Etienne in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and they also signed former Dallas Cowboys starter Rico Dowdle after he posted 1,079 rushing yards and two scores last season.
Hopefully, this will be just a major setback before an even bigger comeback for the once-promising running back.
